Whew. Life has been full of fun, company, a road trip and work. Never a dull moment. I was to my biannual quilting retreat the first weekend in November. It truly is a sweet retreat. I finished 2 quilt tops and 4 scarves as well as some Tara Schmidthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11776047274701980452noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857109772374889169.post-43015990850440736912013-09-23T11:30:00.000-06:002013-11-29T20:33:39.233-07:00

As previously posted I had talked about posting my daughters quilt once it was completed.
It turned out really nice. I quilted the entire piece with just a meandering stitch. It worked really
well with the blocks as it is all little squares and being only her 2nd quilt ever the blocks were not
exactly the same size to use a Tara Schmidthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11776047274701980452noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857109772374889169.post-48123154884302021492013-09-03T21:16:00.001-06:002013-09-07T18:44:44.800-06:00

I am not sure what happened to me for the last 3 years. My passion has not dwindled by any means. I guess I have just not had the time to share.
I will try and pick up with posting at least once a month.

Posting some of the projects I had completed prior to lifting off to Maui. I had been at a retreat in November and had never posted my completed projects there. The quilted picture I created is of a man fishing at sunset. I really did not take the best photos to promote this work and it does capture the moment much better when you see the quilt in person. in the weaving you flip them up and they form a pattern. I think it is working out pretty cool. I am trying this as a sample and weaving with 100% cotton very loosely just so I can see the pattern. Where you will find the most beautiful sunsets on earth! All of the photos were taken by myself an amateur in photography, with a $200 Kodak digital camera. When you have the perfect scenery/medium I guess just about anyone is capable of capturing it. But you must meet Maui to experience the beauty, even photos are not the real thing!Tara Schmidthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11776047274701980452noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857109772374889169.post-86740630309966019852010-02-05T19:56:00.004-07:002010-02-10T09:24:28.011-07:00Where Does the Time Go?My last post was in October, a mere 1/4 year ago. OMG! Since then so much has happened, and so many fibrelicsious things I have created but not posted.November was a busy month as I worked many shifts as a RN, my serious passion. December crept up and saw me in Maui celebrating my 25th wedding anniversary for 17 days. Today I tried Kool-aide.
I see by the color I finished with, I could have had more green. I used orange, fruit punch and lemon lime.
But it definitely absorbs the color and holds it.
Also busy weaving on my rigid heddle at home. I am using 100% wool and plan to felt the yardage after

Well I think that the photos of the campers explains it all! There was allot of learning and trying new techniques with fabulous fun fibres. The kids were very talented and such a great group to have for a week of fibre fun. Photos are from the 12 -16 year old age group as this is the group I joined in with. Fred and I went on a 5 day kayak trip to the Kananskis Country. It is located in the Rocky Mountains of Southern Alberta. The only water our Kayaks saw was rain, but we had a wonderful trip in spite of the weather.

You bet they are! Anytime, any one of them has fibre between their fingers you will see true happiness. The February Fibre Arts Social, was an attempt at felting wool roving to Tulle gift bags. Everyone was given opportunity to choose a bag, various colors of roving and we wet felted the roving to the bags as best we could. From there the challenge was to take your bag home and embellish it and return it at the next meeting to be displayed. Making cards for many occasions is a relaxing way to create with paper.
I also started playing with some lutrador, and while playing got an idea to make a butterfly. Cutting the veins on the wings was done really easily using a hot blade. And with this came an idea to do a study of butterflies. I have been searching for a focus for a group of works. So using different mediums over the next Tara Schmidthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11776047274701980452noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857109772374889169.post-85591654312850042152009-03-24T18:07:00.006-06:002009-09-06T20:15:08.431-06:00More Mug Hugs
More Mug Hugs :)
Today I delivered more hugs for sale.
These hugs were done with the Roastery's Logo.
Fun to make as I made my own stamp from the logo with foamy. Impressed me how easily it was done and how successful the stamp worked.
The logo was adhered to wool material with gel medium and then hand stitched to the knitted, felted mug hug.
Here is the same logo I made and then Tara Schmidthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11776047274701980452noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7857109772374889169.post-20819435381100949572009-03-20T21:39:00.001-06:002009-09-06T20:15:24.504-06:001st Day of Spring and Exciting New ThingsWell today was allot of fun as it has taken me months to ask Kat Tatham owner of Madhatters Coffee Roastery if she would be interested in seeing my Eco Mug Hugs.
